No family history of diabetes, I am a little overweight, likes sweets, but do not feel any problems?

My rate of blood sugar is low 300 range which I understand is fairly high ... I started exercising regularly and recently feel good about the results .. I was wondering if anyone out there know if a high number of blood sugar is still OK in terms of leading a life of natural Long active and healthy? .. I am not in great shape but I have led a life very athletic in my youth, until a few years ago and I am now just starting to get back in shape again ... since this is the first time I passed a test of blood sugar ... my numbers down if I continue with my exercise regime and reduce my intake of sugar and sweets?
