Does this program slim kids work?
ok so i am around 40 pounds overweight for my age and height and i want/need to lose weight. i came across this slim kids program for teens/kids weight loss and it is supposed to work really well according to the website. i am 13 and weigh 200 pounds so you can do the math. i wanna know if this works. the program is only $30 which is cheap for us. i want to get down atleast 40-50 pounds and i would be happy. Please tell me if this works, thats all i want and need to know i exercise (sports teams) alot.
Best way to lose weight is cardio exercises i.e. running followed by a healthy diet.

MMA for Weight loss- How long should it take? What should I be doing diet-wise?
I have joined a fight team for weight loss as well as to learn self defense. We practice 5 nights a week from 6:30pm-9:00pm. 3 of those nights I have weight training for roughly an hour before. On the other 2 nights I normally do some light cardio. I currently weight 222, my waist size is 36 inches. My question is how long before I should begin to see a large difference, and, does anyone have any suggestions as far as diet. While I want to work hard and create a calorie deficit, I don't want to starve myself either. Thank you in advance.
The reason I am asking how long it should take is not because I expect it to fall off overnight... It didn't go on overight! I just want to be sure I give myself enough time before I think I'm doing something wrong.
Honestly, ask a nutritionist.
However there are plenty of resources online that can take your height, weight, age, activity level and sex and determine how many calories a day you should eat.
The truth is, you will be the most successful if you keep a food journal, it makes you honest.
Just a rough idea, you probably want to eat around 1800 calories a day. No more than 35-40 grams of fat,do you best to avoid saturated fats, about 150 carbohydrates a day, try to stick to complex carbs such as whole grains, sweet potatoes, veggies, etc. these take more calories to digest and break down longer, helping your metabolism, try to stay under 2500mg of sodium (a teaspoon of salt is about 1000mg) and try to eat 5 times or so a day, or essentially don't go more than 4 hours without eating unless you are sleeping.
Concentrate protein intakes directly after a workout and before sleep as that is when you body is in a catabolic state.
Really, having a professional work up what works for you is more important.
In the meantime, don't try to go crazy, don't do anything drastic diet wise. Cut down on portions, try to remove any sodas, or juices, limit your sweets. The exercise is going to do a lot for you.
As far as how long? Within a month you will see some surprising results on the scale, your clothes will start to feel different. It will really take at least 3 months before you can really start noticing a definitive change. 6 Months out you will probably have to start buying new clothes.
Most importantly is to make something a lifestyle change, you can do well right now, but keep in mind you are going to have peaks and valleys, and that you have to be in it for the long haul. Realize it is going to take YEARS to get where you want to be, and the only way to do that is by doing something you can maintain, and getting there slowly. Don't crash out on a diet, the things I mentioned above should be where you want to get to diet wise.
For now, just start cutting back slowly, so that it is something you can maintain. You don't feel deprived if you still can eat what you like eating but are just eating less of it.
Just my advice, I have been really big, and I have been very fit, and have bounced all around the spectrum. The wisest thing I can say to you is that accept it as a lifestyle change, and that it will take time. Don't burn yourself out, keep a realistic pace that you can continue indefinitely.
Best of luck!
Edit: Not to be disparaging, but definately do not do a low carb diet like South Beach or Adkins if you are doing physically intensive exercise regularly. You can develop ketone poisoning, in addition your body goes into Ketosis, where it burns fat instead of carbs, while this may sound good, it slows your metabolism to a crawl, and puts your body in starvation mode. You will burn out quickly in exercising and will not be able to get the cardiovascular fitness that you would get with a well balanced diet. Essentially you would feel drained, and won't be able to push yourself as hard.
Not to mention those type of diets are hard to keep up, your body will crave carbohydrates, it is homeostatis..
South Beach isn't as bad as Adkins Induction phase, but it is still very restrictive and low on carbs, which can result into going into Ketosis, combined with hard intense exercise you can damage organs or develop fatal ketone poisoning..
Just a fyi...
