Setting Goals For A Weight Loss Workout Program

Weight loss workout program; for a weight loss workout program to work, it needs to be founded on and pivoted by sound goals. By sound goals, we mean measurable, timely, realistic and achievable goals for both the short term and the long-term objectives. This article will give you some basic guidelines on setting up the goals of your weight loss workout regimen.

A weight loss workout program is doomed to fail without sound goals simply because the individual implementing it has no clear direction where the program is taking him or her. The first step in setting up these goals is to appreciate the position you are in currently. Determine what you would like to change about your weight status. Once this starting point is established, the next step is to determine where you want to be. How much weight do you want to loose and in how much time must the weight loss be achieved?

Once you know where you want to go and the weight you want to loose in a specific time duration, then you can start designing the weight loss workout program that is specifically tailored to achieve these objective within the time limit you have.  Ideally, a workout program must feature the following components:

  1. Training intensity
  2. Workout duration per session
  3. Training frequency (How many sessions per week)
  4. Number of exercises to be performed in a week
  5. Number of exercises to be performed in a single session

The idea is to strategize on each of the above components and then integrate them in a way that helps achieve your weight loss objective. Decide how you can craft a weight loss workout program that attains maximal intensity and thus maximal combustion of fat deposits and ingested calories.

Again, you must know that your program should be routed towards attaining the ultimate weight loss objective. This means that you will have to segment the ultimate objective in to small goals that can be achieved progressively until they accumulate to the final weight loss target. Ideally, you should have weekly and monthly weight loss figures that are measurable, ambitious and still realistic. The achievement of these small–time goals is what will help you achieve the ultimate weight loss objective.

Setting up short-term and long-term goals helps you to continually review your progress enroute the program. You should spend time analyzing your attainment and your lack of progress if any, and then amend the same by changing your ratio of the above stated components of a weight loss workout program.
