How to calculate your BMR

The opposite also rings true, if you lower your daily caloric intake to a number below your BMR, you will lose weight. Quite honestly, if you can grasp this concept, and adhere to the principles behind it -- you will lose weight.
Good carbs versus bad carbs
Any quick weight loss diet worth the price tag you pay for it will address the differences between good carbohydrates and bad carbohydrates. Good carbs, such as are found in whole-wheat, or whole grain breads and in wheat pastas, will give your body the energy it needs to burn calories while not weighing you down. Bad carbs on the other hand, such as white breads, white rice, and other so-called "enriched" foods, do not do your body whole lot of good, and may actually work against your weight loss goals.
High-protein foods
Lean proteins are a great source of energy. Fish, chicken, white pork, and the like help to boost your metabolism, and also help to increase your energy throughout the day, especially if you consume proteins in the morning or early afternoon.
Avoid fatty, high carb foods before bedtime
As your body starts to wind down from the day, your metabolism starts slow down as well. What this means is that if you indulge in foods that are high in carbohydrates, fats, or even foods that are technically good for you, yet high in sugar, like apples or oranges, for instance -- you are doing yourself a disservice. Effective quick weight loss diets will address the importance of avoiding sweets and fatty foods toward the end of your day. The truth of the matter is that even if you maintain the right kind of diet, even eating the right kinds of foods at the wrong time of the day can be detrimental to your weight loss goals.
