Is it better to do intervals or a straight run for weight loss?
I've just started running again and I usually do about 5km or 30min (it's about the same usually for me). Is it better to add some walking in there to vary my heartbeat or to just run the whole way. I'm looking for weight loss results.
And yes, I've got the whole eating right and doing strength training as well (and you can't really target areas). My question is just specific to running.
Running isn't always your best answer for weight loss hun. Running's main focus is cardio- working and strengthening your heart. What you were talking about, running then walking so that ur heart rate varies, is a CARDIO workout.
If you are trying to lose weight you need a balance of three areas. Dieting, Working out, and Resting.
When you are dieting, try cutting out fried food, fast food, and moderate your carb intakes. While working out, target the areas that you feel like need work, eg. if your stomach is ur main problemed area, ab workouts - situps, crunches, mountain climbers, flutter kicks, etc etc. And finally resting. After working out you need to set aside for yourself to rest which is why its good to make a schedule for yourself. you don't want to work out the same areas two days in a row. A good workout plan consists of both cardio and hard workout. So run one morning, the next morning to an ab workout, jog and stretch the next day, do workouts with a medicine ball the next day.
