Is slow weight loss normal when first starting out?

I'm trying to lose 25 pounds by July since I'm going on a big vacation. I started about three weeks ago and lost 6 pounds in two weeks. This last week I kicked up my exercise routine to run either 8 miles a day or spend 1 1/2 hours a the gym doing cardio. I've been eating lots of veggies and lean fish..yogurt..fruit to equal 1250 calories a day. Nothing processed or fattening.. But I've only lost 1 pound this week. My clothes however are a little looser though so I don't get it. I'm feeling a little discouraged since I've been working so hard this last week. Is it normal for weight loss to be slow at first? I watch the biggest loser and those people lose weight so fast! Just trying to hang in there. (For the record my starting weight was 147 and am now at 140.. I want to get out of these 40's!)

You might not believe this, but if you stick to a healthy dietary habits by eating small meals throughout the day like every 3 hours, protein shakes and copious amounts of water you will lose body fat and maintain size. Things like bread and pasta should be kept to a minimum, they are still needed and are good if you need that extra energy to get through a workout. Just don't over do them! Losing muscle mass occurs when you are on a 'diet' that denies your body the nutrients needed to sustain strength. You can also take some of the supplements on this site to help speed up your weight loss.
