Practical weight loss meals?

I have been looking for "practical" weight loss meals to cook to eat a little healthier. Everything I read seems to be all this fancy stuff. I am tired of eating chicken and salad as part of a diet. I love them both but eating it everyday gets old fast. Any ideas or websited would be great!! Also, any ideas for great healthy smoothies would be good too!!

Which Weight Loss Meals Are Best?

It is hard to look at any commercially produced diet meal and imagine that at some time in the past, the ingredients in the box were actual, natural food.  Weight loss meals found in supermarket shelves are a waste of money, and don't do much for your general health.  Yes, you will probably lose some weight following some diet fad or another, but the eventual cost to your body just isn't worthwhile.

If I placed a standard diet meal box on one plate, and a 5 ounce grass fed steak, a sweet potato topped with organic butter, and some perfectly steamed broccoli on another, which would you rather eat?  If you want to eat what is in the box, stop reading now – you are hopeless.

Protein burns Fat
When you eat protein, the brain tells the body to release glucagon from the pancreas.  This hormone acts in direct contrast to insulin which causes sugar crashes.  Insulin's job is to remove excess sugars from the blood and store them as fat.  Glucagon tells the liver to convert sugars into energy.  This is important since you want to understand why you should include protein in all of your meals – even if it is only a few ounces.

Don't Get your Calcium from Dairy
You are thinking, "What? I have always been told that dairy foods are great sources of calcium."  Not really.  The calcium in dairy products is very hard for your body to use, calcium found in vegetables such as kale, bok choy, broccoli, collard greens and other dark, leafy greens is much more available.

In fact, dairy in general is so chemically laden it taxes the body more than you imagine.  If you must have dairy, stick to raw milk products.  They retain the natural digestive enzymes that help you digest things like milk and cheese – just keep your quantities small.  This isn't a source of protein.

Raw Nuts are Great
Nuts are full of nutrients, healthy fats and even protein.  Eat them raw for their maximum benefits.  A couple of tablespoons of raw almond butter spread on apple slices makes for a great mid afternoon snack and it won't cause a sugar spike and crash, and their fiber will keep you feeling full.

As you can see, the best weight loss meals don't come in a box, they come out of your kitchen.  Take some time to learn how to eat properly and the skills will carry you through your entire life.
