Weight loss while injured.?
I recently had knee surgery and have restricted mobility. My doctor has advised me no squatting, kneeling, twisting or bending and no standing/walking for more than 30 minutes at a time. He has also advised me to loose a few pounds to help relieve some of the stress/pain on my knees.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how I can go about loosing weight while still be concious about my restrictions. I've joined Weight Watchers so I'm changing my eating habits but I also was wondering what kind of exercises I could incorporate into my efforts that are effective but low impact.

Hi Sara. For weight loss the most effective type of exercise to do is some type of cardio. These exercises generally include things like running, biking, elliptical, etc. But there is a form of cardio that may be just right for you...swimming. If you don't have access to a pool you could temporarily get a gym membership to get you through until your knee is better and the doctor gives the all clear.
Weight Watchers is a great program and if you follow it closely and get in your cardio the weight should come off pretty easily. The site below is a WW reference site that has lots of free info like points for restaurants, recipes, tips and more.
