I think your friend should keep up the exercise and sensible eating programme. Anything that causes such quick weight can't be healthy. Also if she looses so much weight so quickly she is more likely to get stretch marks and saggy skin.

I have a gym body belt and I like mine. Don't have unrealistic expectations and you will like it. It is primarily used to strengthen your ab muscles. How can hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) cause weight loss?

After my miscarriage (3 mos. pregnant) I started to lose weight for what seemed like no reason. Then I got pregnant again and gained weight like normal, carried the baby to term and now my baby is 14 mos. and my weight is lower than ever! (93 lbs)- I cant' seem to gain. I went to a doctor who specialized in thryoid since my mom has this but she gains weight. He said in a small percentage of people who have underactive thyroid there is weightloss. What weight loss supplements can people with Bipolar condition take?

I would like to know specifically what supplements to help aid weight loss for Bipolar people on weight gaining Bipolar medication (which slows the metabolism and increases appetitite)

I understand the problem with meds and weight gain. Going through it myself. However, I would not risk any supplement etc. This is because they may have something in them that could trigger a manic state. Supplements are not required to be tested by the FDA and we don't always know what is in these supplements and what might trigger an exacerbation in our symptoms. I do agree with the other poster about exercise. It is sooooo hard to do. I seriously have problems with staying motivated but my 15 year old (also bipolar) excercises everyday and she actually weighs less AND she eats whatever she wants. She just gets a lot of excercise and it works. Hope that helps.

What vitamins are good to aid weight loss?

I had a baby 8 weeks ago and was back to my pre pregnancy weight within a week but have since put on a couple of pounds. I am exercising and eating well but thought it may be due to a lack of vitamins - i have started taking folate again but wondered if there are other vitamin supplements that are good to lose or maintain weight when your diet is not as good (due to baby demands). He is formula fed by the way so my nutrition doesnt affect his.

Why is running so addictive?

Even when I mentally don't want to run, I find myself jogging. I am working on getting back into shape, and am on a weight loss program. I'm just to where I can run a mile without panting, going to work on 1.5 miles over next 2 weeks. But, then I'll be on my way to 2 miles, etc. Especially when I have my mp3, I realize I really love running. Why do you?

I know that I love running because when I running I am getting my body into shape and getting out my feelings from the day. When you get our body into shape it makes not only your body feel better but you also are less at risk of getting sick. When running you can reflect on your day too and just thinking about the day can make you feel a lot better. Good luck with the 2 miles and so on. Have fun. Running is great!

Can you recommend a healthy eating plan for weight loss?

So I'm ready. I have the treadmill, the running shoes and the mp3 filled with good beats....the only thing missing is a healthy eating plan. I called a nutritionist and she charges $95 per visit! What kind of non sense is that! just so she can tell me to switch my potato chips for carrots sticks!
