My father has type two diabetes, what food can he eat?

My father was recently diagnosed with diabetes Type 2. It also has hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. What kind of food is safe for him to eat? If it helps, My father also had a liver transplant is about 10 years ago. I do not know which category this question, so I apologize if this question is miscatagorized.
