If I eat a couple crackers before my test for gestational diabetes, a will that mess up?
I take the gestational diabetes test today for my baby and I was not allowed to eat anything for 12 hours before the test and I can not eat anything until, after they took blood 3 times in 3 hours, I'm not going to eat something this afternoon until 1:30! That's 16 hours without food and I'm starving already! Seriously, if I nibbled a few Ritz crackers, it will mess up the test results? I can not take it anymore!
Yes, you're not supposed to eat anything because food should not affect your blood sugar in the blood. I know it stinks. I 'm so hungry and weak and feeling sick the morning of my test because of goes without food so long. I had a snack in my purse, however, that I scarfed down once the test has been done! It's just something you have to go through, unfortunately. Hang in there!
