A doctor can determine by looking at my pee if you need to be checked for diabetes?
The urine infection and I had to pee in a cup for him. She said she saw bacteria and white blood cells in the sample. Urine samples are "dipstick" for glucose, protein and ketones. If these are present, the patient has a problem to be addressed. This is a screening tool and not enough sensitive to surveillance. Thus a fasting glucose test (one hour 8 Fast) or proof of oral glucose tolerance test can be used for pre-diabetes and diabetes. However, testing should be performed at two different times to confirm the diagnosis. This test is to recommend that fasting glucose, followed by the patient drink a standard amount of glucose solution to challenge the system followed by another glucose test two hours later. Of course, patients should control their own level blood glucose at home.
