Dextro Cake? Any Ideas?
Anyone who has a friend with diabetes or has diabetes knows what Dextros are. They are little cubes of energy in short. Anyway, my best mate got diagnosed with diabetes a few days before Christmas just gone. I wondered, as her birthday's coming up. Is there anyway I could make a cake Dextro, so when his blood sugar down, it can be a part of this place a Dextro. I know it's a really weird question and there is probably no way it can happen. But I told him it became Dextros for her birthday and she wants a dextro cake. So I'm gunna try to grant her wish. Thank you guys xx
Birthday Cake for Diabetics 2 cup cake flour sifted 2 1 / 2 c. tea baking powder 1 / 2 c. Tea salt 6 c. tablespoons margarine, softened 1 1 / 4 c. tsp vanilla 1 / 4 c. Tea almond extract 1 cup dextro powder 1 egg 3 / 4 cup milk 1 / 2 cup sugar, strawberry jam toll free 1 Cup nondairy topping whipped Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line two-inch Series 8 cake pans with parchment paper or waxed paper. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. With an electric mixer at medium speed, cream margarine, vanilla and almond extract until fluffy. gradually add powdered dextro, beating constantly. Add egg and beat until mixture is fluffy. Then, stirring with a spoon, add dry ingredients alternately with milk, stirring after each addition until batter is smooth. Turn into prepared pans. Bake 25-30 minutes or until done. When cool spread the strawberry jam between layers. Spread topping whipped on top. Keep refrigerated until serving. If you want you can add a drop of red food coloring to whipped topping before putting it on top of cake
