Anyone have gestational diabetes when you were pregnant?

I just went to the doctor on Friday to get my blood sugar tested. I lost the paper they gave me during the planning for this appt. few weeks back stating this he must eat before the appt. I remembered reading eat "Bland" diet. So I had a bagel with cream cheese and a pint milk for breakfast. (about 9 hours my appt. was at 12.45) I went to the laboratory before my OB appt. and drank the drink sweet. Dr. saw my OB after it then had to return to the laboratory and they drew my blood after 1 hour of drinking the beverage. I received a call today saying that my rate sugar is high and I have to go back for more tests. I'll do that, but I just want to know if anyone out there who can give me some advice if they went through this too? I just need reassurance comforting because I am a little scared. What exactly is' Diabetes gestational "and how does it affect your baby? Please answer only if you have had or know someone who took it.

I got it 2 times and after the babies are born, it usually just goes away from his own. Your doc will tell you to watch your diet as watching your sugar weight, because GD indicates too much sugar in the body that runs the length of the child and makes the weight gain of baby too. Baby could become too big to deliver vaginally and if too large, require a cesarean baby. I had 2 normal and healthy associate with GD Do not worry too much Just follow your docs orders and test your blood sugar daily and you and your baby should be ok. I do not stick to the strict diet that I had, I just cut my sugar foods and beverages. Basically, if you gain weight too much sugar too high, your baby is too. The key is the doc did not want the baby to become too large for sugar and put the baby at risk of not having a normal vaginal delivery. This is not really any thing about fear, just be well informed of your doc and / or a nutritionist and she should be OK. It is manageable.
