Help with my results of gestational diabetes - Do I have diabetes ?????/.......?
I am 30 weeks pregnant and my doctor I'm told that the gestational diabetes, here are my results for the tolerance test glucose: Fasting-75, 1 hr-172, 2 h-152, 3 h -127. My doctor referred to an endocrinologist who I have not met yet, My problem is that when I checked online, I found two different sets of diagnostic criteria, and when I talked to my doctor Abt that, it says that there are two different criteria for diagnosis of gestational diabetes and I am eligible for the classic test, not the more recent classification. Help Please ... Does someone known if these results mean that I have diabetes .....
Listen to your doctor and follow his recommendations. Although gestational diabetes is serious, it can be controlled with diet and does not mean you have diabetes forever - it will go away after the birth of your baby (even if you are considered high risk for diabetes in the future and should take steps to avoid catching for real). Go with the side of caution. If you have gestational diabetes by conventional standards (but not according to a new test), then many women before you have also received the same diagnosis and changed their diet to benefit their babies, although they could have a fairness test later. Bottom Line - your blood sugar level, and your body does not metabolize sugar effectively. It will not hurt you or your baby for you to follow the suggestions to lower your blood sugar. In fact, it will be good for your baby and reduce your risk of further complications.
