Cats can they recover from diabetes?
My cat was a little overweight since we moved to Texas, because it was too hot for him to go outside and the backyard is a way smaller. Anyway, all of a Suddenly he was diagnosed with diabetes. He lost considerable weight and is very low. I always feel bad because I have to essentially starve I can eat my Cheerios around him in the morning because of trying to obtain. I am very disappointed and it makes me sad to see him already dead air ... I recently heard that cats can recover from diabetes, is this true? Yes, he becomes her insulin injections
Yes, a cat may diabetes go into remission when they are insulin-dependent longer. It can last from a few weeks to several years, and there are some cases of cat never need insulin again. My cat has been diagnosed with diabetes in October 2007. I changed his diet for wet food, low carb only. The dry food is usually what makes them diabetic first. I put on insulin called Lantus, which works very well with most cats and has a high rate of remission. I had to give her shots for a week before go into remission. He was in remission for a year, then was released in December last year. I think it's because I changed his food to a different brand, and had higher carbohydrate. I changed his food back to his old mark (Fancy Feast without wheat gluten or sauce, and carbohydrates did not exceed 10%). I gave him insulin Lantus again, and it took a little longer this time around a month, but once again in remission. Since then he has been in remission for 3 months, and I hope that if I did not switch his food over there will always this time. Please consult the board in the link I put below. PS to achieve remission of your cat, you need to learn how to test home with a glucometer. This is very important. If you do not already, I suggest you start now. It will save the life of your cat. And you know, many veterinarians do not know much about feline diabetes. If I had listened to my vet, my cat would probably died from an attack of hypoglycemia. Beware of bad veterinary advice.
