The causes of diabetes?

I read the Wikipedia article on diabetes and was surprised that the cause listed as "a restriction viral infection or an environmental trigger ".... WTF ... I always thought that you, or who has inherited or developed because of bad eating habits, but it makes the impression that this is somewhat random. Are there viruses that circulate diabetes or something terribly wrong.
