There actually isn't any such thing as a "weight loss" food. That's just marketing. It's strictly about calories and nutrition.

There are reduced calorie bars, such as special-K, and Nutrisystem, and high fiber bars like Fiber-1 (which I highly recommend). There are also protein bars that are high protein, low carb, high fiber. (I like Snickers Performance Bars).

Just remember - it's total calories, and nutrician. Not the words "diet" or "weight loss" . That's marketing. All calories count. Even "diet" calories. :)

Massive Weight Loss Surgery

Morbid obesity is a new epidemic afflicting nearly one third of all Americans. One of the most effective ways for permanent weight loss has been "Bariatric" surgery, including gastric bypass and gastric banding. Successful patients will lose 100 pounds within 18 to 24 months of surgery.

Having successfully battled obesity, these people are now faced with a new challenge- excessive and hanging skin folds of the abdomen, arms, thighs, breasts, and face. Thinking that once they loose their massive weight they will be attractive again, men and women are disappointed and frustrated with unsightly folds of skin which cover their groin like an apron, hang off their arms like bat wings, and wiggles from their legs when trying to jog. It also creates a problem for personal hygiene.

This challenge has led to the development of new ways of body contouring, designed specifically for after massive weight loss. In 2005, 68,000 men and women underwent body contouring after massive weight loss.

After weight loss, almost all patients face multiple problem areas which require multiple surgeries. Before surgery, the patient's health needs to be optimized since many develop anemia or vitamin deficiency after bariatric surgery. Next, the sequence of multiple surgeries needs to be wisely devised with the help of an experienced plastic surgeon who specializes in body contouring following massive weight loss.

The most common post-bariatric body contouring surgery is a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty. These are not standard tummy tucks, but rather extensive or "High Tension" tummy tucks designed to also lift the sagging hips and thighs; while tightening the loose abdominal wall muscles.

A more extensive form of this tummy tuck is call a body lift or belt lipectomy which removes the excess skin of the abdominal fold, as well as that from the back, resulting in a greater lift of the sagging buttocks and the thighs. Panniculectomy is a more specific form of a tummy tuck selected for those with an extremely large, heavy, and hanging abdominal pannus.

Often, obesity results in the over-stretching and the weakening of the abdominal wall, which produces a ventral hernia. This and other types of hernias can also be repaired at the time of a tummy tuck or body lift. The second most common body contouring procedure after massive weight loss is breast lift or breast reduction surgery.

These procedures are not limited to women, since men also develop hanging breast/chest folds after weight loss. In women an Inverted-T or Anchor Mastopexy is used. Often breast implants are added to replenish the lost breast volume. This procedure is at times combined with an upper body lift which removes the excess skin folds of the upper torso which extends to the upper back. Breast reduction surgery after massive weight loss in men has a different aim and design. Its goal is to create a flat and masculine chest.

The third most common body contouring surgery following massive weight loss is brachioplasty. Brachioplasty or arm tuck removes excess hanging skin of the upper arms. In its extended form, it also removes the redundant skin folds of the outer chest and the axilla or the armpit.

The fourth most prevalent post-bariatric plastic surgery procedure is a thigh lift. Thigh lifts address the excess skin folds of the inner or medial thighs, that of the outer or lateral thighs, or that of the entire thigh. Is Burning back pain due to weight loss?

Decided to go to doctor to help with weight loss. Have lost about 25 lbs in past few months and now I'm having a terrible mid-back pain. It's almost a burning numb feeling that doesn't go away. Has been giving me problems for about a month now. I'm not sure what to do? Do I need a spinal adjustment? I don't have insurance so I'm looking for some good advice because I don't know if it's because I've lost weight or what the problem is. To maintain a healthy lifestyle & get in shape try this:

Try making small changes, if you really love a certain food that is ok, just cut down your portions, you don't need to deprive yourself to be healthy.

As for your overall diet try to cut down on your calories, eat lean protein, and whole grains - bread is not bad, so long as it is whole grain & high in fiber, also eat your veggies & drink lots of water. Also lean calcium products such as yogurt, low fat milk & cheese fill up with low calories & high nutrition content. Cut out saturated & monosaturated fats & excess sugar
For snacks I eat a lot of fruit & veggies as snacks, baby carrots, snap peas, grape tomatoes, grapes, berries, peaches. I also love the Flat Earth veggie & fruit chips, Quaker ranch rice cakes, popcorn, whole grain crackers, dark chocolate, blue diamond nut thins & string cheese. These are all small snacks with low fat & low calories.

It is best to eat 1200-1500 calories per day, if you eat less than this your metabolism will slow down, making it harder to lose weight. NO fast food. don't drink empty calories, stick to water, low cal juices (I mix 100% juice w/25% water to lower calories) & low fat milk. no soft drinks (diet or regular)
no eating unless you are hungry!

That being said, never underestimate the power of a good workout routine. In order to be healthy you MUST make time to exercise. Not exercising is not an option if you want to be healthy.

Lots of Cardio & weight training. do 30-45 minutes of strength training 3-4 times per week followed by 45-50 minutes of cardio 5-6 times per week. do your strength training 1st, it burns more calories. I also do loads of crunches prior to & after cardio. Also walk more during the day. Take a walk on your lunch break, walk to the store, aim for 10,000 steps per day a pedometer is a great idea. The more active you are the more calories you will burn & the more weight you will lose.

To stay healthy & not get discouraged remember this:
It is not recommended that you lose more than 2-3 pounds per week. Rapid weight loss can be dangerous & is hard to maintain. losing weight is difficult because 1 lb is 3500 calories, so you must burn 3500 calories per pound you want to lose.

If you really want to lose the weight you are going to have to use discipline & work hard. Your health is worth it!

PowerTea® contains Green Tea Polyphenal Extract, Green Tea Leaf Powder, Guarana, Citrus Aurantium, and Vitamin B12.

Ingredients in Focus

Green Tea is prized for a variety of reasons, not least of which is its EGCG, or Epigallocatechin Gallate, content. This is a catechin found in Green Tea that provides a source of antioxidants. But beyond this, Green Tea is thought to mildly increase metabolism and aid in fat burning. However the extract may contain significant amounts of caffeine and has been known to cause negative side effects including nausea, insomnia, nervousness, elevated heart rate and increased blood pressure.

Similarly, Guarana is an herbal source of caffeine that is supposed to increase alertness, fight fatigue, and increase stamina. And so, PowerTea® packs a bit of a punch. But the hazard comes when this caffeine-content is combined with the Synephrine in Citrus Aurantium. This Synephrine is a safe and reasonable metabolism-booster that doesn’t deliver the negative side-effects of Ephedra. But when it is combined with caffeine, as it is in PowerTea®, Synephrine becomes unsafe as a weight loss option. And a hazardous ingredients combination is a decidedly un-natural way to go about losing weight. We would have thought the use of synepherine alone would have been the way to go.  It works very well as a fat-burner on its own.

Then with the help of a shelter for homeless, I could buy a house. They should have an outpatient clinic homeless in New York. It can get medical care, food, clothing and temporary shelter in a homeless shelter. There was in Houston when I was homeless. Sometimes they are called day-care centers. They close at 5 o'clock, but it's better than nothing. You are allowed to hang until then and if you are patient enough you will be sent to a hospital for emergency care.
